Hometown resided and did stone work on the trim of my house. It was on my chimney and around windows. They were very friendly, affordable. They were pleasant and on time, and efficient too. It took 2 days for the siding and 1 week for the stone work around the the house to be done. They went beyond my expectations.

Description of work: Danny and another installer removed our old kitchen window, sliding glass door, bathroom and two very large bedroom windows and replaced them with new double-paned ones. He built up the openings with wood shims where needed and applied caulking around windows to seal. He hauled away the old aluminum windows. We have a split-level house, so much of the work was done on ladders.

The company salesman came and listened to what we wanted and made suggestions to help us select replacement windows and sliding glass door. He did not use high-pressure sales tactics as so many other window companies had. No heat lamps! Danny (the installer) called and came out a few days later to measure, then several weeks later to install. He arrived when he said he would each time, was polite and pleasant, and didn't leave until the job was completed, several hours later. He cleaned up after himself, but his assistant was a bit sloppy with the caulking. I had to scrape excess off my windows and deck. Several weeks later, I squirted the windows with water, and discovered a leak. I called the company, and Danny came out the next business morning to fix it (It needed more caulking) It is perfect now.

Hometown came and gave me an estimate without any pressure to buy. I decided to go with them because the salesman was polite, not pushy. When they came to install my windows they went right to work, did a fantastic job and cleaned up after themselves. Michelle called to verify that I was happy with my windows and the installation. In the summer of 2009 I had my new Cedar Ridge composite siding (w/foam backing) and Simonton windows installed by Hometown Exterior Design. I can remember that besides the claims of having a quieter home I was also told that I would actually see my electric bill reduced.

The claim of a “quieter home” was immediately proven.

As for the electric bill?

Well, this year (from 12/28/09 til 01/29/10) with the new windows and siding I averaged 50 kwh per day.

During the same period last year (2009), I was averaging 78 kwh per day (but, it was also much colder last year). Then, during the same period in 2008 I averaged 59 kwh per day.

So, I think the new windows and siding has proven itself.

Hometown Exteriors and their staff were very professional and helpful during the sales and construction process. Our home had the original 12 year old LP T-111 siding. We had Hometown replace it with the new Solid Core Insulated siding. Plus we had them add an additional rigid foam insulation board under the siding. We just wanted to write to you about our experience when we resided our home. Our home was built in 1993 with a defective siding product. We chose to reside our home with the Solid Core Insulated siding and with the Portsmouth shake style in the gables.

It is a wonderful product. It is easily cleaned with a garden hose, has resisted fading in the past few years, and is durable as well. We have also seen some savings in our heating and cooling bills due to the extra insulation provided by these products.

We definitely love the look of our home, as do our neighbors and friends. The compliments keep coming. We are very pleased with our choice of siding companies, and feel that the folks at Hometown Exteriors have helped us to beautify our home and investment. From the outside, our house looks almost new; it’s enough to make me think it might sometimes be possible to make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.

From the outset, the company was straightforward about what the work would entail and how it was to be done. Once agreed upon, the work was begun promptly and carried out diligently and conscientiously.

Jerry, who did the roofing, made sure we knew that the roof as originally sheeted was not structurally sound, and made arrangements with us to add the additional sheeting to make it structurally sound. The roof looks superb.

Mark, who did the siding, always answered our questions and helped us understand what was possible, considering that our house is almost 60 years old and consequently has some challenging design quirks. We’ve received numerous compliments from our neighbors.

We noticed even before the job was done that the house was cooler than it would have been without the new siding. We’re looking forward to seeing how much less heating oil we consume during the colder months.

Additionally, various little things were done for us that made us feel as though Hometown Exterior designs was really paying attention specifically to us and our needs, and not simply doing a job. Several years ago I bought an older house. Among several improvements that I had to do was to eventually replace the old aluminum windows.

I chose Simonton due to several factors. One was the quality in the design and construction. The other was the lifetime warranty, including glass breakage and owner transfership.

The surprise came after the windows were installed. Outside noise I normally heard were suddenly gone. And inside comfort was better. No more cold drafts from my windows.
